Valentines Bulletin Boards

I forgot to show you our February/Valentines Bulletin Boards - here they are!

I had fun with my cricut machine making this one!

This is our calendar board.

We do the date, weather and attendance (name recognition).

We also sing O'Canada.

Valentines Gifts

I like to celebrate the seasons and all the wonderful celebrations that go with them, because the children get so excited when they can participate in something light hearted and fun. They also love giving gifts to their parents and I love to give gifts to the kids!
It's also an excuse to get creative and have a party!

This is what the teachers are giving the kids for Valentines Day!

I created the tag for the front of the gift bag on the computer and printed them off.

Bought some Gummy Worms and Valentines baggies.

I put the worms in the baggies...

...then put them in the gift bags!

Cute eh!

This is the parents gift from the kids!

The snowy hearts which were included in 'the heart book'.

Along with this poem...

Out of a snow cloud, cold and gray,
Something dropped on St. Valentine's Day,
Whirling and twirling and soft and light,
A wee little heart all dainty and white,
And I guess the sky children were sending down,
This Valentine straight to the Moms and Dads in town.

 ...pasted to a red heart doily.

Then the kids made their foot print - cut it out and pasted them on

a gift bag,with a cute saying!

All set to go!

Steel Drum

Continuing our Music and Drama month!

Today we made a steel drum! It was very loud in our school as we hammered the tin to a concave shape! It was fun though! :)

I must note that I ended up putting a towel over the tin so it would not be so loud hammering it!

We used a wooden spoon to strike it!

It sounded OK and everyone wanted a turn to play it!

It may not look quite like a real steel drum but the concept was there and we had fun!

Tin Drums

Today we made tin drums!

We used large pasta tins and huge balloons!

We cut the top off the balloon and stretched the balloon over the

opening of the large tin and tapped it down with masking tape.

Then decorated with paper and ribbons!

Not bad!

The best part - playing them!

The smaller one was made with the top of the balloon we cut off!

Why not use the shaker we made as a drum too!

All together now!
