Tattle Monster

I try to share my own ideas here on Kreative Resources, but I really wanted to share this idea because it is, in my opinion, a great tool for any social situation where tattling is becoming an issue!
Giggles Galore gave me permission to share this with you.

'D' is for DANCE!

Here in Ontario Canada the weather can present us with moments we would rather be inside. It’s too hot – too cold – rainy or just not conducive for extended play outside. So what we like to do is provide a lot of gross motor activities that can be implemented indoors. One of our favorites is DANCE! We love to throw on some happy tunes and kick up our heels. It’s all about free movement – and letting loose!
Some of our favorite tunes are:
Hands Up  and
The Twist

Dance is for all ages – from the youngest toddler to the eldest friends (me). Everyone wiggles and bops to the beat, with a smile and a giggle. Whenever the urge strikes us we put on a tune and get our bodies moving. To extend the experience, we have dance ribbons and batons which enhances our movement. They assist us in moving in new ways - we experiment with these ‘aids’ allowing our muscles to get a good workout.

As I stated in my Music and Movement post on my blog:

The development of language and memory skills - co-operation and socialization - co-ordination and balance, are supported with music and movement. We are energized and motivated to continue our daily lessons, when we are able to get up and move or burst into song. We are simultaneously building so many important developmental skills, so it would be imperative to have music and movement in the classroom whenever possible. The introduction of music and movement ensures a positive classroom experience. What a great way to let loose and enhance those dramatic urges inside us.
If dance is not a part of your everyday classroom routine, I would suggest you implement it as soon as you can – daily gratification will be your reward.

Back to school bulletin board

Here is one of my back to school bulletin boards - I include the children's pictures in most of my bulletin boards - these are our returning children and I will add the new children when we get back to school.
I used wrapping paper for the background cover - $1 at the dollar store and there is enough to do two boards! I cut my letters out of extra pieces of boarder trim - I trace them using letters from an old puzzle.

(Sorry about the glare - it was difficult to get the picture right! Click photo to enlarge)

It says - "Time to Laugh and Learn"

Pirate booty

During our Pirate week theme this summer we made our own Pirate booty (pasta necklaces) - I was remiss in posting the pictures - so here they are!

We dyed the pasta by putting the pasta in a large bowl with 2 tablespoons of vinegar and several drops of food colouring - stir until all the pasta is coated. Let dry for about and hour.
Plastic lacing was used for stringing the pasta since it is stiffer and easier to hold for the toddlers - the end does not sag while trying to put each piece on. We also tied one piece of pasta on to one end, so the other pieces do not fall off during stringing.

These two little girls made several necklaces - they really concentrated on the task at hand!

Mardi Gras

Today the tots participated in a Mardi Gras parade that our school - put together as part of our summer school theme. They made their own hats and made a banner to carry - sang songs - did a dance and shook some shakers to the beat of a Caribbean song.

Getting them outside with their hats and balloons was half the battle! :)

Waiting to go on!

Um what were we here for? LOL

... and off they go! :)
