Songs we like to sing!

Read my article posted HERE!

I have to admit I don't always sing the songs as written - I do forget lyrics from time to time, and I like to make things up - but that doesn't mean we don't have fun. Infact we may have more fun when we let loose and sing like we don't have a care in the world.

*Jack and Jill
Jack and Jill
Went up the hill
to fetch a pail of water.
Jack fell down
and broke his crown
And Jill came tumbling after.

*Twinkle, twinkle, little star
Twinkle, twinkle, little star,
How I wonder what you are.
Up above the world so high,
like a diamond in the sky.
Twinkle, twinkle, little star,
How I wonder what you are.

*Row, row, row your boat
Row, row, row your boat
gently down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,
Life is but a dream.

*Where is Thumbkin?
Where is Thumbkin?
Where is Thumbkin?
Here I am, here I am.
How are you today?
Very well, thank you.
Go away, go away.

Where is Pointer?
Where is Pointer?
Here I am, here I am.
How are you today?
Very well, thank you.
Go away, go away.

Where is Ring Man?
Where is Ring Man?
Here I am, here I am.
How are you today?
Very well, thank you.
Go away, go away.

Where is Small Man?
Where is Small Man?
Here I am, here I am.
How are you today?
Very well, thank you.
Go away, go away.

*Five Green and Speckled Frogs

Five green and speckled frogs
Sat on a speckled log
Eating some most delicious bugs
YYYYUUUUMMMM YYYYUUUUMMMM

One jumped into the pool
Where it was nice and cool
Then there were
Four green and speckled frogs
GGGGLLLLUUUUBBBB GGGGLLLLUUUUBBBB

(Repeat in descending order.)

                                                                 *Slippery Fish
Slippery fish, slippery fish, sliding through the water,
Slippery fish, slippery fish, Gulp, Gulp, Gulp!
Oh, no! It’s been eaten by an …
Octopus, octopus, squiggling in the water
Octopus, octopus, Gulp, Gulp, Gulp!
Oh, no! It’s been eaten by a …
Tuna fish, tuna fish, flashing in the water,
Tuna fish, tuna fish, Gulp, Gulp, Gulp!
Oh, no! It’s been eaten by a …
Great white shark, great white shark, lurking in the water,
Great white shark, great white shark, Gulp, Gulp, Gulp!
Oh, no! It’s been eaten by a …
Humongous whale, humongous whale, spouting in the water,
Humongous whale, humongous whale,
Gulp! … Gulp! … Gulp! … BURP!
Pardon me!
*Five little monkeys
Five little monkeys jumping on the bed,
One fell off and bumped his head.
Mama called the Doctor and the Doctor said,
"No more monkeys jumping on the bed!"
Four little monkeys jumping on the bed,
One fell off and bumped her head.
Papa called the Doctor and the Doctor said,
"No more monkeys jumping on the bed!"

Three little monkeys jumping on the bed,
One fell off and bumped his head.
Mama called the Doctor and the Doctor said,
"No more monkeys jumping on the bed!"

Two little monkeys jumping on the bed,
One fell off and bumped her head.
Papa called the Doctor and the Doctor said,
"No more monkeys jumping on the bed!"

One little monkey jumping on the bed,
He fell off and bumped his head.
Mama called the Doctor and the Doctor said,
"Put those monkeys straight to bed!"

* Humpty Dumpty

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king's horses and all the king's men
Couldn't put Humpty together again!

 *The Itsy Bitsy Spider
The itsy, bitsy spider, climbed up the water spout.
Down came the rain and washed the spider out.
Out came the sun and dried up all the rain,
So the itsy, bitsy spider went up the spout again.

*The Wheels on the Bus

The wipers on the bus go Swish, swish, swish;
Swish, swish, swish;

The horn on the bus goes Beep, beep, beep;
Beep, beep, beep;
Beep, beep, beep.
The horn on the bus goes Beep, beep, beep,
all through the town.
(Slap palm in front of you like honking a horn)

The doors on the bus go open and shut;
Open and shut;
Open and shut.
The doors on the bus go open and shut;
all through the town.
(Push hands back and forth in front of you)

The Driver on the bus says "Move on back,
move on back, move on back;"
The Driver on the bus says "Move on back",
all through the town.
    (Point thumb over your shoulder)

The babies on the bus says "Wah, wah, wah;
Wah, wah, wah;
Wah, wah, wah".
The babies on the bus says "Wah, wah, wah",
all through the town.
(Rub fists in front of eyes)

The mommies on the bus says "Shush, shush, shush;
Shush, shush, shush;

Five little ducks
Went out one day
Over the hill and far away
Mother duck said
"Quack, quack, quack, quack."
But only four little ducks came back.

Four little ducks
Went out one day
Over the hill and far away

Links for winter songs - poems and activities!

Please share any links or ideas that you may have! We would love to hear from you!

Some of my favorite things to do is to make snow sculptures - make spray chalk for snow - make snow forts - do winter dressing sequncing then play dressing games like winter dressing relays. At Christmas I like to play a game where we put small candycanes into a large tub of Styrofoam packing peanuts and then have the children wear really big mitts and try to dig down in the packing peanuts to get a candycane - done as a team relay race. We do mitten matching & sorting activities. Do outdoor freezing science experiments! Shaving cream snow pictures. Yogurt bottle snowmen. Plus there are many more - I could go on but please add some in for us if you have any ideas of your own!

Circle time songs!

So I thought I would share some of the songs we sing when we have a circle time - enjoy!

Tidy up song
Tune: The Farmer in the Dell
It’s time to tidy up
It’s time to tidy up
Put your toys on the shelf
It’s time to tidy up

Pick them all up
Pick them all up
Pick up all the toys
Pick them all up

Put them all away
Put them all away
Put all the toys away
Put them all away

Clean Up Time

Tune:
Row, Row, Row Your Boat

Clean, Clean, Clean up time.
Clean up time today.
Books and blocks and all your toys,
put them all away.

 Circle Time
Tune: Frère Jacques
Time for circle
Time for circle
Come sit down
Come sit down
Sit down with a friend
Sit down with a friend
Please  sit down

Welcome to the circle
Tune: The Farmer in the Dell

We're glad you're here today
We're glad you're here today,
Give a cheer! We're glad you're here,
We're glad you're here today!

(Name) is here today
(Name) is here today
Cheer! Cheer! (Name) is here!
(Name) is here today!
Buzzy, Buzzy Baby Bee

Buzzy, buzzy baby bee,
Won't you say your name for me? (point to child)
(I have a pointer in the shape of a bee, which I use to point to, or tap a child on the head - they giggle when this happens)
Jacob!
Good morning, Jacob!
I'm so glad you're here with me.

The Good Morning Train

The Good morning train is coming
How are you? Choo- Choo
The good morning train is coming
How are you? Choo-Choo
the good morning train is coming,
the good morning train is coming,
the good morning train is coming
How are you? Choo-choo...
Say good morning (child's name)
How are you? Choo-choo
Say good morning (another child's name)
How are you? Choo-choo
Say good morning to ___________
Say good morning to _____________
Say good morning ___________
How are you? choo-choo
Then you go through each child in your class with the same verse over again until you have included each child's name.... Oh and don’t forget the teachers as well! J
This can be sung as each child gets up and makes a train with the child whose name was called before them, until all children are a part of a long train. Move about the room!

Songs with names

http://www.teachpreschool.org/2011/06/literacy-beginnings-chapter-two/

While reading Teach Preschools' reflection on chapter 2 of 'Literacy Beginnings', I was reminded of the songs we sing which includes a child's name. The children get so excited when they hear their name in a familiar tune. I have one child that literally vibrates with excitement when she hears her name.
Here are a few lyrics I want to share - please feel free to add some of your own!

Buzzy, Buzzy Baby Bee

Buzzy, buzzy baby bee,
Won't you say your name for me? (point to child)
(I have a pointer in the shape of a bee, which I use to point to, or tap a child on the head - they giggle when this happens)
Jacob!
Good morning, Jacob!
I'm so glad you're here with me.

Good Morning Train
The Good morning train is coming
How are you? Choo- Choo
The good morning train is coming
How are you? Choo-Choo
the good morning train is coming,
the good morning train is coming,
the good morning train is coming
How are you? Choo-choo...
Say good morning (child's name)
How are you? Choo-choo
Say good morning (another child's name)
How are you? Choo-choo
Say good morning to ___________
Say good morning to _____________
Say good morning ___________
How are you? choo-choo

Then you go through each child in your class with the same verse over again until you have included each child's name.... Oh and don’t forget the teachers as well! J

This can be sung as each child gets up and makes a train with the child whose name was called before them, until all children are a part of a long train. Move about the room!

Tub song

(Child’s name) where are you going? (Point to child)
Upstairs to take a bath! (Stomp feet like you are going upstairs)
________ jumps into the tub “SPLASH”! (Clap hands loudly)
________ pulls out the plug “POP”! (Pretend to pull out a plug)
Oh my goodness, bless my soul there goes ________ down the hole! (Twirl pointer finger in the air)
Glub, glub, glub! (Wiggle like you are going down a drain)

Then continue for each child!
