Valentines Gifts

I like to celebrate the seasons and all the wonderful celebrations that go with them, because the children get so excited when they can participate in something light hearted and fun. They also love giving gifts to their parents and I love to give gifts to the kids!
It's also an excuse to get creative and have a party!

This is what the teachers are giving the kids for Valentines Day!

I created the tag for the front of the gift bag on the computer and printed them off.
Bought some Gummy Worms and Valentines baggies.

I put the worms in the baggies...

...then put them in the gift bags!
Cute eh!

This is the parents gift from the kids!
The snowy hearts which were included in 'the heart book'.

Along with this poem...

Out of a snow cloud, cold and gray,
Something dropped on St. Valentine's Day,
Whirling and twirling and soft and light,
A wee little heart all dainty and white,
And I guess the sky children were sending down,
This Valentine straight to the Moms and Dads in town.

...pasted to a red heart doily.

Then the kids made their foot print - cut it out and pasted them on
a gift bag,with a cute saying!

All set to go!

Happy Valentines Day everyone!

Snowy Hearts

There has been a recipe going around to make a baking soda and cornstarch dough. I like the snowy white look, so today we made heart pendants out of it - to give as gifts at Valentines Day.

Mix 1 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup cornstarch in a saucepan
- then add 2/3 cup warm water - bring to a boil and stir until smooth
- Remove from pan and kneed - we then added some blue glitter at this point - It made them look 'icy'.

For our project we then rolled the dough out into a 1/4 inch thick sheet and cut out our shapes with heart shaped cookie cutters. Then we poked a hole in each one - while they were wet - to string a ribbon in it later to wear as a pendant or hang as an ornament. We laid them out to dry.

We had some extra dough so we made some little ones as well.
We are going to try and glue them on top of the larger ones - or save them for another project.

We can give these with this poem:

Out of a snow cloud, cold and gray,
Something dropped on St. Valentine's Day,
Whirling and twirling and soft and light,
A wee little heart all dainty and white,
And I guess the sky children were sending down,
This Valentine straight to the Moms and Dads in town.

or this one :

Happy Valentine’s Day to My Mom & Dad

Mom & Dad, I’ve got some friends
Of each and every kind,
But a better friend than my Mother & Father
I’ll never, ever find!

I’m so happy you’re my Mom & Dad!
I love you.

Pretty aren't they

Memories

The CASA classes at our school have made these wonderful Scrapbook albums for each family as a keepsake. I was blown away when I saw them. There is so much work that goes into each one. There are photos, pieces of the childrens work done during the year, creative elements and most of all memories!
Individualized!

A couple of the pages inside.

Combo Gift - Fathers Day and Graduation

So the Graduation gift is also our Fathers
Day gift - time and money a factor!

We call this our 'Yearbook' - it consists of a cover page created individually by the children - a foot print of each individual child (meaning the book each Dad receives will only have their own childs created cover page and  footprint) - 2 pages of photos of all the classmates and teachers - a poem and a thank you page.

The poem says:

Now I know my ABC's, colors, shapes and days

I learned some poems, sang some songs, rhymes and finger plays

I played outside on sunny days and inside when it rained

My little hands and little feet were busy every day.

My teachers were Ms. Lisa, Ms. Lubna & Ms. Nermein

I kept them on their toes

They combed my hair, tied my shoes and even wiped my nose.

But now it's time to say good-bye to all my seedling friends.

School is over, summers here, but learning never ends!

I have to say I have no idea where I got the poem from - it's been around for a few years in my files and I have used it a few times.

Mothers Day Gift

OK we all do the handprint thing on a card - but it's the CD cover and CD inside that are the best part of the gift. Considering most toddlers and preschoolers are unable to tell thier parents what they have been up to during the day - I give their families a CD with pictures of the activities and adventures they have been up to in our classroom throughout the year. One CD is given at Christmas  - the second at Mother's Day and the third at graduation in June or for Fathers day! The parents and family members are very greatful to recieve this gift full of cherished memories they can now experience with their kids! The feedback has been very positive when the parents recieve this archive of their child first classroom experiences.
I keep my camera primed and ready to go at all times in the classroom to ensure the best shots are not missed!
