Inspiration and nature!

We have been really busy gardening our little patch of land. We are hoping for a great deal of amazing plants to surge forth. There should be lots of veggies to try if all goes well!
To go along with our nature and gardening activities I showed my tots the pictures of Happy Hooligans Robin Family! We also did our version of their rockin-robin & we also made our version of nesting material for the birds from The Crafty Crow, which Happy Hooligans shared the link for on their FB page. Thanks you guys for inspiring us to have a great day!

Here are our gardening pictures from today!

Our version of the Rockin'-Robin - hung in the hallway with our coffee filter flowers!

Our version of the nesting material for birds - hung in a tree beside our garden.

Our garden - veggies in back - flowers in front!

Daily watering!

Indoor planting

The weather here yesterday was horrible - wet, slushy, rain and cold! What a great day to plant our flower seeds - INDOORS!

Everyone was really focused on learning about the
seeds and how to put them into the pots for growing.
Hopefully we will have some real beauties in our garden this year!

It's time to garden!

Today we began to till the earth and prepare our garden for planting! We have a small space at the back of our school where we can plant some seeds and watch the fruits of our labour grow!

I can't wait to see what manages to flourish, so that we can have a feast for our eyes and our tummies. Last year we had some great flowers and got to munch on some beans!

Update:
The seeds went in today and we watered them with our new watering cans!

Garden Remembrance

So as the seasons change and the frost is eminent, it was time to select a few souvenirs of our garden labors. We wanted to memorialize a few plants from our very first garden. Thankfully I had a wonderful flower press/dryer to help with the task at hand.

First the children went to the garden to pick some plants!

Then we pressed them in our microwave plant press/dryer.

Then selected the ones we thought we could use.

We tried to make this picture - but everything slid when we picked it up! :(

Then we taped them on - but upside down - Ugh!

Soooo, we redid it - on different paper with a few different plants - and we love it!

This will be hung in the hall of our school for all to see! :)

Here it is on the wall! :)

From our garden!

I was a bit disappointed that most of our vegetables did not survive our attempt to grow them the past couple of months - but to our wondering eye should appear - YELLOW BEANS! Not many but they are coming slow but sure!
The gardening adventure started here:

Here is one of my proud students displaying the pick of the crop!

They were big and sure looked yummy!

There's another peeking out!

And another! :)
